Description

This is a research degree, meaning that students must put together a research proposal, conduct research and then write a dissertation on a topic in general linguistics in which the department has expertise. These areas include specifically: cognitive linguistics, corpus linguistics, forensic linguistics, and translation and interpreting. Applied Linguistics and Sociolinguistics are offered as separate degrees (cf. below). A series of assignments is designed to support students in the process of writing a research proposal. Once Unisa accepts the research proposal, a supervisor is assigned to oversee your research and literature study, and the preparation of your dissertation for examination.
